Founded in 1851 in Macon, Georgia, Alpha Delta Pi was the first secret society for women.

Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald, along with her closest friends Octavia Andrews Rush, Mary Evans Glass, Ella Pierce Turner, Elizabeth Williams, and Sophronia Woodruff Dews founded the Adelphean Society.
